Who will advocate for the Advocates?

Being a student of Chartered Accountancy, the phrase that “Who will guard the Guards" ( Latin : Quis custodiet ipsos cutodes) is no new for me. It has often been a topic of discussion in ICAI ever since the Chartered Accountants profession started and has been one of the recent favorite pastime, thanks to the Satyam Saga.

Sadly, as Latin quotes always somehow fit every situation, this one does too; only this time I just twisted it a bit to sound appropriate to the topic of the day “Who will advocate for the Advocates?”. You got me right this one is a tribute to the heroic act of the Advocates in Chennai and the patience and judgment showed by Police on mauka- e - waardaat (*sarcasm*).

We have a country bestowing people with all rights, which if practiced can shift India to the first rank of Human Development index. Only one thing, shoot down the politicians, fill jails with the police, and now ban the advocates. I mean weren’t we enough tortured and used for the sake of politicians that we now have to live under the fear of Advocates burning the palace of Justice???

Dekh tere sansaar ki haalaat kya ho gayi bhagwaan
Kitna badal gaya insaan

These advocates downing the black coat, promising justice to the innocents, what they think? Do they think that just because they are the one who advocate for others, they have the right to throw rotten eggs inside the court room, set ablaze a Police station, disrupt the civic life, break the law, and be responsible for the shoot at sight order in the city??

And all these because they think it’s all right to support the organization which is accused of assassination of an Indian Prime Minister, which covers up the front page of TOI for killing innocents , which is being labeled as a terrorist organization and which is a disgrace to humanity? Ya, I am talking about LTTE. These moving memory cards of whole of the Indian Constitution, can’t they see that what they are doing is against IPC? Against country? Against Country people?

Not forgetting our wonderful Police, who frustrated and confused at Advocates’ reaction at the court, hit back by smashing vehicles parked inside the complex and threw teargas shells which caused even more of chaos and wrapped up one of the Judge who is now admitted in hospital. I agree that they were doing the duty but no sympathy for them here too, as they refused to get the lawyer arrested who was held responsible for starting all this, instead got all of them behind the bars.

After all this drama, who is suffering? It’s us, the common man, these lawyers and the police and the media ( ya media is responsible too, given that they never forget to divert our concentration from main issue to the more “sensationalized” one) they all will wash their hands at the end of the day. Police will say it had no other way than giving shoot at sight order (Has it really worked ??), media will say they were reporting the “truth” and come’ on you don’t throw 400 lawyers in jail just like that (provided u have those many jails).

Amidst all this we tend to forget that it’s the LTTE that’s gaining in the whole of the business. Whole of the security is directed against lawyers then who will secure us from foreign terrorist organization. Think a bit, stress your brain nerves, all 400 lawyers moving against law..There is something wrong..it’s just not common..not every day business. And now we will get busy in fighting “among” ourselves and forget that we have to fight “for” ourselves. This has been the case always. Let’s see if it makes some difference this time.

But yes my innocent mind is still wondering, if all the lawyers are under arrest then “who is going to advocate the Advocates”? ;) And above all who will judge the case :O??

Any answers??

First of all stop crying your heart out. we are screwed from the day we descended to earth. From an Apple to Ak-47, everything has been causing jeopardy to mankind. Its well know fact to most.
But i just hope that we survive through it all and we ourself don't become a monster in order to beat another monster.

chinky i agree with you..its just because we haven suffered we don't realize the pain...i wish we all humans would have been connected with an invisible connecting cord which would have passed one human's pain's 10% to the other and so on; so that we could have felt it a lil bit and this world would have been a lil better...

Aameen

*sigh*...jus a wild imagination..though i hope God does it. ;)

nice to see people wishing pain for others ;).
anyways i'll be happy to rap up any advocate as longs as he doesn't sue me. they are skilled at doing this. remember the harbhajan's slap incidence? it costed him 3 crores!!!! but don't know how much fine did these hell goers paid for burning public properties??
but its not usual that these lawyer do such acts. what worries me more is the act of political parties and big names in society who can get their in way out in whatever manner such as cheat, force, bribe..... etc. and there is no act in constitution to reform their acts with immidiate effects before many have suffered. Eg i'm really pissed with shiv sena (gawar sena) and bajrang dal (gawar dal). almost sure that they'll be creating menance on v'day next year, or someone will be issuing a fatwa for sania mirza wears shorts.
C'mon why do we have to suffer??? can't we just kick their asset when we know they are wrong and causing threat to our unity and security. actually they have already mutilated it in maharashtrta where the north indians are considered invaders.
how long will we cry for this. what do we get out of crying?? i know a friend who is totally devastated with her boss's inhumane behaviour. but all she can do is cry about it. wonder who would tolerate a degrading comment about our beauty and religion from and old, arrogant, sick *some abusive word*, meanie?
We are the one who are blessed with food, shelter, coke, fancy cloths, zero calorie sweetners, rock and roll music and most importantly freedom. And If only we get hurt so many else get hurt who don't have the comfort of above mention things. If we don't raise our voices chances are they will never hear.

Coming to topic who is advocates the advocates?? The Answere is our country is republic which is by the people and for the people, through the people. there is no hierarchy that someone will sist above and control everything, with the exception of almighty. If someone can protest or nourish it, its us, we the people.
